Thank you for supporting the OBX Great Glow Run. Conditions were excellent, with the full moon and setting sun clearly visible. The top three times were 7:00, 7:26, and 7:30, with our winner being 13 years old.
Hope to see you all again next year!
Sprint, run or walk through the tallest sand dunes on the East Coast. This one mile family friendly run will take you up and down the sand dunes at dusk. Harness your astronomical powers, as the full moon rises over the Atlantic Ocean at 7:39 PM, while the sun sets over the Roanoke Sound at 8:09 PM. The dunes are the perfect place to watch it all happen.
This race is family friendly. All adults will receive a glow in the dark t-shirt. All children will receive a medal. Everyone will receive a glow stick and other goodies, as well as post-race snacks and drinks.
All skill levels are encouraged. Run it fast to see what you can do in the dunes, or walk it slow with your kids and take in the panoramic views. After the race, find your vantage point to relax and become one with the solar system, as you watch the setting sun and rising full moon light up the sky.
Feel free to bring your own glow sticks, flashlights, or battery powered light sources. (No fireworks of any kind are allowed in the park.) The park closes at 9:00 PM.

TODAY'S FORECAST is for scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. This event will be held rain or shine. Come get your shirt and decide if you want to run.
Caution: participate at your own risk. Although it will be late in the day, conditions are likely to be hot and humid. The course will have elevation changes. Sand can be challenging to run in. Shoes are required. There will not be a water station. Drink plenty of water before the event, and consider bringing a water bottle with you.
***This race is limited to 250 participants and has sold out. We may be able to accomodate a few on-site registrants in case of no shows on race day.***
PACKET PICKUP
Pick up your race materials beginning at 5:30 PM outside the visitor’s center at Jockey’s Ridge, before the race. Arrive early. Do not risk missing the start of the race!
RACE CATEGORIES
The top three finishers overall will receive a trophy. All kids that cross the finish line will receive a medal.
REFUND POLICY
The event will be held rain or shine. This is a charity event, no refunds will be available.
